Frequently asked questions
Most adults age 18 and older who are struggling with overweight or obesity qualify. Final eligibility is determined during your medical evaluation to ensure treatment is safe and appropriate for you.
Most patients complete the YooshMD program in 6 to 12 months, depending on your starting point and goals. The program is designed to have a clear beginning, middle, and end — not to keep you on medication indefinitely. We build a taper and exit plan into your care from day one.
Most online GLP-1 services are subscription models — they're built around keeping you on medication for as long as possible. YooshMD is structured differently. We start you on medication with an explicit plan to get you off it. You're working with a double board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, not a general practitioner or a prescribing algorithm. And because we're self-pay only, there are no insurance hoops, no prior authorizations, and no surprises — just transparent pricing and a doctor who's accountable to you.
We prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1 medications, including semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound), as well as non-GLP-1 options such as bupropion/naltrexone (Contrave). The right medication depends on your medical history, goals, and how your body responds over time. See our Medications section for more details.
No. Many patients use medication temporarily to help establish momentum while building sustainable habits. We actively support tapering or discontinuing medications once your goal weight is achieved and lifestyle changes are established. The one exception: if GLP-1 medications are being used to manage a condition beyond obesity — such as type 2 diabetes or liver disease — continuing long-term may be medically appropriate, and we'll discuss that with you directly.
The goal is for you to maintain your results without medication. Throughout the program, we work on the habits, behaviors, and lifestyle shifts that make that possible. After you complete the taper, you'll have a follow-up to assess how you're doing. If you're stable and thriving, you're done. If you need additional support, we'll talk through your options — but returning to indefinite GLP-1 use is not the default plan here.

If you have health insurance, Quest® can bill your insurer directly. If you prefer to pay cash or your insurer doesn't contract with Quest®, we've partnered with Rupa Health® for discount pricing starting at $30 for a full panel. Note: lab costs are separate from YooshMD membership fees — YooshMD visits and care are self-pay only and are not billed to insurance.
We are currently self-pay, but we can generate a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
